Help Send Rob Blair to Cedar Lake Speedway’s $50,000 USA Nationals
July 6, 2010
Rob Blair and the WON11 crew always look forward to traveling to new race tracks. This year, with your help, Rob has an opportunity to travel to New Richmond, Wisconsin to participate in the USA Nationals held at Cedar Lake Speedway. For the past two years, fans have been able to vote for their favorite driver to receive $1000 to help offset travel cost to get to the crown jewel event. With less than 2 weeks remaining, Rob currently sits 3rd in voting. With only the top 8 drivers receiving travel expenses, we need your help to keep the WON11 up front. The minimum donation to the cause is only $5.00. So if you would like to see the familiar WON11 travel across the country to take on some of the best in the business, go to http://www.fansfund.com/ and vote for Rob. Below is some additional information about the F.A.N.S. Fund.
F.A.N.S. Fund an event that raises money for drivers/teams who attend the USA Nationals from fans all across the United States. With the rising costs of racing, this fund directly helps to offset some of those costs allowing drivers/teams to attend the USA Nationals. For fans, it allows them to have a direct influence on a drivers program to allow them to attend the Nationals and also promotes a stellar field of drivers/teams for the USA Nationals.
Since our inaugural year in 2008, the FANS Fund begins the donation and voting process in mid to late May and concludes this process in late June or early July. Donations are generally from fans but also come from business as well. Once all donations votes are received, the money is pooled to create one general fund. The top driver vote recipients are called to confirm their attendance at the USA Nationals and for doing so it is confirmed they will receive $1,000 upon their arrival. Regardless of how the driver performs that weekend they will be guaranteed the money from the FANS Fund when they arrive at Cedar Lake Speedway.
For the fans, this is an opportunity to get involved in the USA Nationals event and have an influence on the driver roster for the event. Along with the participation in the event, a luncheon is also held for all who donated and a guest. During the luncheon, the drivers who were voted to Cedar Lake via the FANS Fund are also in attendance along with their crews. The luncheon is held at the racetrack and help in the afternoon just prior to the final nights activities are about to kick-off. At the luncheons conclusion, prizes from the drivers themselves are raffled. Prizes typically include: t-shirts, hats, die casts, driver stickers, and actual door panels from the racecars themselves.
Cedar Lake Speedway’s USA Nationals is one of only a few Dirt Late Model crown jewel events that pay the winner $50,000. Since 1988, Cedar Lake has hosted the early August event with past winners such as Billy Moyer, Scott Bloomquist, Rick Aukland, Jimmy Mars, Brian Birkhofer, Donnie Moran, the late Jack Boggs and many more. Fans from around the nation converge on the 3/8’s mile dirt oval for a stand-room only crowd to watch the event at the track called “Wisconsin’s Fastest Piece of Real Estate.” For more information regarding the USA Nationals and Cedar Lake Speedway, visit their site at www.CedarLakeSpeedway.com
This event is not possible without the fans, companies and drivers that support it. For that, everyone associated with the FANS Fund and the racing community in general is deeply grateful. Also, the unwavering support provided by Cedar Lake Speedway and its owner’s each year is much appreciated.
